Step by Step: Disable Roll Call Attendance from Contributing to Total Grade

Rollcall (Attendance) is always visible in the Navigation menu but it is not visible to students by default. When you start to use Attendance (ex. marking students present or not), it will create a new Assignment called: "Attendance" in your Assignments worth 100 points automatically as seen in this demo. 📹

According to Instructure it is important to never delete, rename or unpublish the Attendance assignment once it is created in your course.

If you have used Attendance, follow these steps to ensure that the "Attendance" Assignment is not counted as a grade.

Step 1: Go to the Assignment called Roll Call Attendance in your Assignments area.

Step 2: Open the Assignment.

Step 3: Choose Edit Assignment Settings:

Step 4: Check the box that says: "Do not count attendance toward final grade"

Final Step: Confirm in gradebook.
